Can i fix scratched dvd

Amazingly, you can! Repairing any type of optical disc isn't as difficult as it might sound. In most cases, a scratch in the disc is only at the surface level. The actual data on the disc is stored on a material sandwiched between two layers of polycarbonate.

That's the transparent plastic of the disc, the surface prone to scratching. Taking care of your discs is clearly a good idea, so you should always put them back in the case when done. Also take the time to ensure the inside of the case is clean, too. Bits of grit can scratch the disc when it is apparently safely put away. Also, you should take care removing a disc that gets stuck in the DVD drive.

This is another occasion when optical discs can be scratched or otherwise damaged. However, if blemishes playback, there's a good chance you can fix the scratched DVD or CD and make it playable again.

Several methods have been found to work. None of them require any special materials or skills, and all can be done with household items. If the disc has scratches preventing successful reading, you can try to repair them to make the disc playable again.

Much of the time, discs we think are scratchedand therefore unreadablearen't all that bad. Often, the scratches are merely surface scuffs. I guess you should have a jar of peanut butter in the fridge as long as you are not allergic to it. Then, you can use the peanut butter to get rid of the DVD scratches thanks to its texture of viscosity and oiliness.

Same as the creamy peanut butter, Vaseline is also helpful to remove those annoying gaps on your DVD surface. Smear a little bit of the Vaseline jelly on the damaged surface, fill all gaps. Spray water or glass cleaner on the disk and use a piece of soft cloth to wipe out the jelly. Slice the peeled banana and smash one or two slices. Rub the smashed banana onto the scraped surface in a circle, then, take out the peel and repeat that. The toothpaste can help, too. Squeeze a little bit of toothpaste from the tube and smear it on the DVD.

Rub it in a circle to cover up all scrapes. Spray it and clean the toothpaste. You must wipe all the paste out and leave no water on the surface as well. And some furniture cleaner kits like furniture polish and magic eraser can be helpful to that.

First, make sure all dust is gone by using the spray and cloth. Then, gently use the DRY magic eraser to rub over the damaged surface in a circular motion. Stop when you see no scratches. A banana. I was surprised at how well it cleaned the disc but did not reduce the scratches. Eye Glass Cleaner. Same result. The clean disc was the only outcome. Baking Soda Toothpaste. Great Cleaner! The badly scratched discs still skipped. Peanut Butter. This did absolutely nothing, but frustrate me.

Hard to get off completely and still no difference. Cover the full length of the scratch, then repeat twice for good measure.

Run the disc under warm water to remove the toothpaste or wipe with a cloth if you used metal polish , then wipe dry with a soft cloth.
