Information about Covid The wait is due to a delayed confirmation from Cornwall Council. They have now confirmed their dates and ours are awaiting final sign-off. Our school motto, Esse Quam Videri to be, rather than to seem to be , captures the essence of our identity and is defined by the 5 C's below.
Underpinned by strong Christian principles, we are a caring and inclusive community which values, nurtures and develops each individual. To be and to become learners for life, to enjoy the discovery and development of knowledge, understanding, skills and interests, and to critically examine the world around us. Because we believe that academic excellence is an important part of human excellence. Every child is an individual and we celebrate and develop their uniqueness, helping them to become an independent learner and encouraging each child to explore, understand and cultivate their talent and abilities, whatever they may be.
To be aware of and to champion the needs of others, with charitable hearts, as part of a commitment to benefit the Cornish community, and the world beyond. Because our mission challenges us to be a vibrant community which enables people to live their lives to the full and transform society for the better.
Located in the heart of Cornwall, our distinctive, serene location supports the development of balanced, unpretentious and reflective children who understand their role as global citizens. To be people who relish intellectual and wider challenge, and to build resilience by learning from both success and failure alike, on our educational journeys. Because we want every pupil to be comfortable in their own skin, celebrating the uniqueness of each individual in the school community.
Through drama, presenting and public speaking opportunities, as well as appearing in productions and concerts, pupils learn key communication skills and gain the confidence to prosper in the real world. This falls within the summer half-term from 30 May to 3 June and most schools will be closed for that week.
Consequently, those schools may nominate another day within the academic year to take in lieu of that bank holiday. The schools will be closed for that day. The statutory requirement for maintained schools to open for days of education for pupils has been amended to allow for days in this academic year. Local authorities have a duty to determine the school term dates for community and voluntary controlled schools in their area and recommend these dates for adoption by governors of foundation, voluntary aided, trust maintained, academies and free schools.
It is hoped that for consistency across Devon that all schools will adopt the recommended term dates. The school year in Devon is split into the three terms of autumn, spring and summer.
