Then not long ago I was given a high council assignment over welfare and asked to encourage food storage in our stake. This was very meaningful to me and confirmed in my heart that the eternal truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ are the same, whether they are lived and taught in Old Testament times or in our day. The scriptures also caution us to avoid extremes.
President Gordon B. I wish we lived it more fully. To me it is marvelous that beyond the promises of a physical nature is the promise of hidden treasures of knowledge concerning things divine and eternal. March Family Home Evening Gordon B. This partial fast is planned to be followed for 21 days. Some of those who have followed his claim to have had several symptoms of detoxification, such as headache, digestive discomfort, or dizziness.
However, it does not happen in all cases, and after the first few days, they usually disappear. It is not about comparing a fast with another since each one follows his method. However, the strong point of Intermittent Fasting is that its practice involves more than a fast of a few days. Instead, it pretends to be a way of life, of eating, of learning to feed, of listening to our body and giving it what it asks of us without counting calories, forbidding food, or making endless daily meals without appetite.
Well, there is not much mystery. The key lies, as has always been said, in spending more calories than we eat in a day. No, respect the digestive rest times and enjoy the feeding moments. The Intermittent Fasting has the mission of preserving an optimal state of physical and psychic health and thereby achieving the right weight for each constitution and metabolism. To do this, it proposes a series of plans that each one can adapt according to their preferences and lifestyle, in which they must respect certain fasting hours that can be, 14, 16, 20 or up to 24 hours maximum, in which you should not eat any solid food.
However, drinks such as water, infusions, coffee without sugar, are allowed. Subsequently, the feeding period will come when you can eat what you want without eliminating any food from the diet. You can eat these— and even potatoes —in abundance. Whole Grains: Go easy on the processed varieties and focus on cooking unrefined whole grains such as amaranth, barley, brown rice, quinoa, millet, oats, and wheat.
Leavened bread, or breads made with yeast, are not allowed, but if you can find whole-grain breads and flatbreads made without yeast, those do fit within the parameters of the diet plan. Types of legumes include black beans, chickpeas, lentils, and other bean varieties.
These can also be eaten in abundance. Canola, peanut, coconut, olive, avocado, sesame, grapeseed, and walnut oils are all healthy options. Investing in fresh herbs and having a host of spices to choose from will help make The Daniel Fast that much easier. Salt is allowed on the diet, but it should be used minimally. Instead, participants are encouraged to obtain protein from legumes, whole grains, nuts, and seeds. Dairy: Dairy is also not allowed on this diet, but you can substitute unprocessed or homemade non-dairy milks in recipes.
Processed Foods: Any food that is processed beyond packaging is pretty much off limits on The Daniel Fast. This includes fried foods, many frozen products, and even most vegan-friendly packaged foods.
Fruit should be your only source of sweetener here. Fare ye well. For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, as there be gods many, and lords many, But to us [there is but] one God, the Father, of whom [are] all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom [are] all things, and we by him.
Howbeit [there is] not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat [it] as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled. But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.
But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to them that are weak. For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols; And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?
But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ. Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend. So back to the Daniel Diet However, Daniel's request shows that his concern was not only to whom or what the food had been initially offered or dedicated.
His concern was that he wanted to have the diet prescribed in Genesis, at the creation of the world. He was asking for a whole plant food, unrefined, unprocessed! This observation is underscored by the reason given for the initial refusal of Daniel's request. The Prince of the Eunuchs was fearful that eating a plant based diet, would give bad health. This was a genuine concern. The prince obviously had subscribed to many of the same unfounded assumptions that many people in our society have today.
Concerns about not getting adequate protein, calcium, B or D vitamins or the right fats.
