Nikon Nikkor Z mm F2. Sigma mm F Discover more challenges ». Nikon Z9 4. These are "hammerhead"-style flashes, designed to mount on a flash bracket and connect via a cable included with the 76 MZ-5 but not the 45 CL-4 to the shoe-mounted SCA adapter.
The lower-end models may need to be sent for factory service for compatibility upgrades to match future Pentax cameras. Metz flashes used to be much more expensive than their Pentax counterparts in the US, but as the prices of Pentax's lineup have risen, that's no longer true.
And in Europe, Metz models are often relatively much cheaper. These flash models offer a lot of bang for the buck, both in terms of raw output which tops the charts for P-TTL compatible flashes, excepting the Metz "hammerhead" 76 MZ-5 and, for the Super version, in features. There are older-still EF DG models as well, and again, the power is the only significant difference.
These older flashes flashes may need to be sent to Sigma for a free firmware upgrade for complete compatibility with current Pentax camera bodies. It's possible that the current Sigma flashes may need similar updates for future Pentax models, but they operate just fine out-of-the-box with the K-r and K Promaster makes a series of P-TTL compatible flashes. Generally, their distribution channels seem to be smaller than others as they were focused around small brick and mortar camera stores , and consequently they're a bit hard to find and perhaps more importantly hard to find at an attractive price point.
Still, there's a couple of unique features which may make them worth considering. You will need at least firmware release V, which should be the default in all currently-shipping units. Without this update, it will just fire at full power in all conditions.
If you have an earlier version, the update can be performed for free by Promaster Service — contact them for details. Promaster has not tested the EDF with the K I'm working on getting more information on these.
Because this module hasn't been updated to work with flashes newer than August , these flashes may have limited appeal. Only the very simple non-zooming DX appears to be still available. There is a manual-control module that can be used, but in that case a manual-only flash is probably more cost-effective. This is module-based, and uses the same modules as the series flashes. There are a number of very similar "generic" flashes made in China and sold in the US under a number of different brands, including Sakar, Digital Concepts, Vivitar all three brands of the same company ; also Bell and Howell, Bower, Practika, and Cactus.
If you find a flash not listed in this guide, odds are good it's actually one of these. It appears that the maker of all of these units, regardless of label, is Icorp Enterprises of Hong Kong.
Well, P-TTL was here before pentax went digital, so the "sensor high reflection" argument is certainly false. I even found the PTTL algorithms in Pentax' patents, and it's clearly defined that if either one of these information are missing, the system continues, ignoring the related variable.

When flash compensation is made both on this flash unit and the camera, both compensation values are added up for flash firing. When a wide-angle lens with the focal length of less than 24 mm is used, the periphery of the monitor screen on the camera may appear darker. JavaScript is disabled.
